This Memorial Day weekend event didn't
turn spectacular for attendance. However, it
was a great occasion for the club to see
again Luis Silva, whose last appearance was
dated August 8, 2008.
Not only Lou came back in action and was a
splendid host as usual, but he also showed
untouched skills and talent. As a matter of
fact, Luis reached his first ASA final since
October 2, 2005 and claimed 2nd place
behind club mate Massimo Conturso.
The Championship Match was played after a
traditional burger cookout whose pleasant
protracting changed the format and
shortened the event.
The game was played well in impeccable
fashion by the two All Blacks and reflected
their group stage match-up. Massimo had
most of the possession and Luis operated a
tight defense and quick counterattack.
It was the 2nd ever Massimo-Luis ASA Final
after the ASA New England Championship IX
of 2005. Just like then, the shoot-outs were
necessary to decide the winner. This time
though, Massimo prevailed for his 7th New
England title.
