FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME
The 7th annual SCC season that is about to
start, brings winds of change. For the better, we
all believe.
While the attendance has remained steady at
5.8 players per meeting in the last 2 seasons,
changes in everybody's life has come to affect
the club activity.
As of October 2007, we are still waiting to crown
the new 06/07 Connecticut State Champion, to
play the consequential State Super Cup, to enjoy
a fun, season-ending competition like the State
Shootout Derby.
The club has seen Jeff Davidson & Ostap Mishtal
graduate from high school to college. Members'
family and work situations are continually
evolving, and a more flexible activity format is
needed for the club to keep growing.
While minor competitions like State Cup, Super
Cup, Derby will mainly remain the same, the
State League will get a major makeup with a
Swiss Ladder-inspired format, and club meetings
at the FPD Hall will tentatively increase up to
once every 8 weeks (ASA events included).
Also, training sessions will be introduced and the
number of Challenge Cups will be kept within
reason.

- League Meetings will be on the 1st and
3rd Friday of every month. - minimum # of players necessary for a
league meeting: 4 - On other Fridays of the month (tipically,
2nd and 4th), training sessions, friendly
sessions and Challenge Cups (min. 3
seniors) will be held. - If a league meeting is skipped for low
attendance, weather or any other
reason, it will be postponed to the next
Friday overlapping any other meeting. - NO min. # of league meetings per month,
and no more than 2. - First League Friday of the season:
November 2, 2007. Last: August 29,
2008 (10 months). - Each League Friday will be organized like a
single robin round tournament.
Independently from the attendance, the
winner will receive 9 ranking points, the
runner up 8, and so on. - The best 8 performances for each player
will count for the Championship Table. - No playoffs unless 2 or more players have
the same points at the end of the season. - LEAGUE FRIDAYS FORMAT
FPD HALL MEETINGS
- Tentatively every 8 weeks, the SCC will
host meetings at the traditional FPD Hall.
The meetings will be mainly on Sunday
and will serve for many purposes: ASA
events, State Cup, Challenge Cups or
special events such as League Sunday or
others.
