| FISTF International Open of Brazil Sunday October 9, 2011 in Rio de Janeiro |
| Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Andrea Gasparini keeps collecting international glory. And in the best tradition of Italian Par Condicio, after Argentina, Brazil too fell under his flicks! Since his flight arrived late from Colombia, the tournament organizers graciously reversed the program and played the Copa America on Saturday, while the International Open was moved to Sunday. Andrea was seed # 2 and his group of four included all Brazilian opponents, although the event saw the representation of four country (Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, USA) and three continents (Asia, North America, South America). The hosts were the famous Vasco de Gama, which in reality is a club with many souls, from futbol to rowing to ..table soccer! The TS section also includes the traditional Futbol De Botao, which is played with large, button shaped, plastic discs. Some of the players competed in a mini tournament that Andrea managed to win against Argentina's Claudio Murcilli after penalties. Since the event took place in the Vasco de Gama stadium, the players also had the chance to attend the Botafogo-Bahia futbol match on Saturday and to take a few pictures in the old venue. These are the weekend's winners: Copa America for clubs - individual open Claudio Murcilli (Rosario, ARG) Copa America for clubs - team open Rosario (ARG) FISTF Open Andrea Gasparini FISTF Veterans Antonio Carabillo Copa America for nations Brazil Andrea had also the pleasure to play a friendly game against Claudio Murcilli, that ended up with a 2-0 win for the Italian. |
