The II Connecticut League ended on a foggy Friday night in Farmington with the
Italian Massimo Conturso (in the picture) lifting the massive trophy for the second
time in 2003. Massimo closed the League in the best way possible by winning his
last 3 matches against Sergio Sensini (2) and co-founder Jim Taylor in the 93rd
Founding Fathers Derby, with a 7-1 record on goals.
In the race for the Runner-up title, Jim prevailed over Sergio by winning tonight's
opening match 1-0 and jumped over Luis Silva to reach 29 points. Despite the
losses in the FF Derbies, it was a quite satisfying night for Taylor, who clinched his
first Cup's final in 2003 by defeating Jeff Davidson in the double semifinal.
While Wallingford's Portuguese Clan took a break, the club went back to
Farmington, this time in Eddie's place, which will be one of the future venues for
club's competitions. Eddie tried to honor this inaugural night by beating Sergio
Sensini. The Italian had no intention to go down quietly and forced Davidson Sr.
on a 1-1 score to keep the 6th place.
