XXV CHALLENGE CUP January 23, 2003
|
Wallingford, CT
In the night of Rick Marques' confirmation and Luis Silva's
initiation, Eddie Davidson made a tremendous impression
when he claimed the 2nd place in the 25th edition of the
Challenge Cup. The former CT Wolves GM equalized his
previous best results, which have been achieved on May 2,
July 5 and September 6, 2002.
Davidson Sr's runner-up place increases in prestige if it's
compared to the number of tonight's players: in fact, Eddie
never reached the Challenge in a 5-player competition.
While Massimo took "his" Cup back after two weeks of
Portuguese dominion, Miguel wasn't able to defend his title
in the final: two scoreless ties against Rick and Eddie forced
him to raise the white flag and be satisfied with the 3rd
place.
Excellent performance by the two new members: Rick
Marques showed impressive progresses and earned 4 points,
while Luis Silva started to get rid of the rust around his
flicking finger and got back in action after 10 years of
inactivity.
