With honorary member, Pablo Lee, playing friendly, the rest of the gang (6 players) were
divided into two groups of 3 for the 37th Challenge Cup. Massimo Conturso and
defending champion, Luis Silva, were the seeds in the draw made by the young Davidson.
Group A saw the surprising Frank Silva holding Massimo on a 0-0 score in Game One until
minute 22nd, when the Italian found the net with a powerful shot.
Frank couldn't repeat his great performance in Game Two against his cousin Miguel, who
won 4-0.
In Game Three, the Italian needed a win to qualify, but couldn't collect more than a few
posts in his sterile siege to the Portuguese GK. Miguel scored the killer goal with two
minutes left after a fast counterattack and, despite Massimo's beautiful tying goal,
qualified to the final.
In Group B, a fearless Rick Marques battled defending champion, Luis Silva, in a
spectacular 2-2 match.
Luis eventually beat Eddie 1-0 and, after Rick's 1-0 win over Davidson Sr., faced his cousin
again in the tie-breaking shoot-outs: 3-2 win and third straight final clinched.
The 37th Challenge Cup was a family business, first time with Massimo Conturso out of
the final match.
Luis had the chance to reach Miguel at 4 titles won and took it with a well-deserved 2-0
victory.

While the designated leaguer (Sergio Sensini) was enjoying the action on Pitch One,
the other 5 players competed in the traditional Challenge Cup, arrived to the 38th
edition. The Group Stage certainly didn't lack in emotions as the final standings witness:
4 players in 3 points say a lot on the performances the club members put on the
pitches. The result was maybe the most anticipated: the Portuguese Derby between
Miguel and Luis, revenge for Marques after the 0-2 loss in the last cup. But, the best
part was the way the two cousins arrived to the final. Miguel looked confident and on
top of his game as he finished the Group Stage undefeated. Luis, after the 0-2 against
Jim, had to work a little harder to reach his 4th final straight by beating Rick 2-0 and
thanking him for his 2-1 win over Taylor. Jim was looking for a win and a spot in the
final, but a killing counterattack by Rick Marques in the wide-open back line shut down
his ambitions. With last night's victory, Miguel claimed his 5th Challenge Cup title, behind
Massimo at 29 and followed by Luis at 4.
