August 28, 2002 THE FULL MONTY a Challenge Cup competition
|
Full Monty? Full Monty?? There is no Full Monty in Subbuteo! The only naked things were Massimo's armpits,
which were used by the Italian as a secret-biological weapon to keep the trophy home.
In the night of the Astrobases, two considerations must be done. First: the new bases helped the
Davidsons--especially Jeff--to develop a surprising way of playing full of accurate defensive flicks and fast
counterattacks. The Young Davidson, despite a lower back pain (skateboard!), played his best tournament ever
and qualified as third with 4 points. Second: it doesn't matter what bases you use if you have the touch, as
showed by Miguel Marques who played with his Hasbro's Sporting Lisbon and scored 8 goals in 5 games
(competition's top scorer; 6-1 over Jeff). The Full Monty could have been Jim Taylor's last apperance before his
trip to Europe (September 4-14, 2002). We'll try to play again on Labor Day, it depends on baseball players'
so-called-strike: if they strike, we play; if they don't, Massimo will be at the Yankee Stadium watching Red Sox's
Pedro Martinez pitching.. Back to us, Jim wasn't in his best shape. He tied with Jeff, Miguel and Massimo and lost
on his owngoal with Eddie. He should have done more in the goal-zone and tried to capitalize his tremendous ball
possession (75% against Massimo!). He said he's saving goals for Vincent Coppenolle...
