A record day: 5,422 people at a Subbuteo match!
For the first time in its brief history, the Connecticut
Table Soccer Club got out of the home base's walls
and went to the Veterans Memorial Stadium of New
Britain for a historical event: playing before a crowd of
5,422 people and spreading the Joy of Flicking!
It has been a true success, with more than 100 fliers
distributed and 20 people that alternated on the pitch.
The average age was pretty low, since the Connecticut
Wolves invited most of the Soccer Schools of the
State, but two guys were in the spot light for most of
the time: Ryan and Adam. Both teenagers, both
absolute beginners, they played one of the most
exciting games we've ever seen. Ryan won
1-0 with a precise chip right under the crossbar (I
repeat: chip under the crossbar!!!!), but there were
many chances for Adam to tie. They looked very
enthusiastic and we all are looking forward to hearing
from them again and welcoming them in the American
Subbuteo Association.
Another guy that made an excellent impression was
Kyle. He has enthusiasm, a great sense of humor and
good skills as goalie (Jim Taylor had a hard time trying
to score against him..).

It certainly was a day to remember, with a
temperature of 92F, the Astropitch literaly melted
under the sun.. but so much fun to see so many kids
forget about a screen and joysticks and enjoy the
simplicity of a flick.
For this and much more, the members of the
Connecticut Table Soccer Club would like to thank the
Connecticut Wolves and the Wolves' General Manager,
Eddie Davidson: it has been a historical opportunity
and a great honor to play in the Memorial Stadium in
front of so many enthusiastic fans.
Thanks a lot, Big E!
