THE  MATRIX
a Challenge Cup competition
August 1, 2002
Great stuff tonight under the stormy sky of Connecticut. Despite Jim
Taylor's second straight absence, the CTSC's members gave the best
welcome possible to this new club's competition. It was a intense
tournament with one of the highest average score ever in Club's
history: it doesn't happen every day to see scores like 6-0, 4-1, 3-1.
Massimo Conturso won his third straight Challenge Cup after he
defeated Miguel Marques 3-1. It was a truly battled match (in the
pitcure), with the Portuguese down 0-2 and desperately trying to
balance the score after he found the Italian's net with a beautiful
chip. Massimo stayed cool and finished the job with a perfect
counter-attack when only few seconds were left to play.
