CHALLENGE CUP
What a busy week it has been for our club! Lot of news came down with the rain in the last few days, not all positive, but certainly
interesting enough.
While Jim Allison from Long Island, NY, sadly announced his temporary--but feared definitive--retirement from Table Soccer, a
new player contacted our club. His name is Yannis Kakavas, 34, Greek, officer of the Greek Navy, who is graduating at US Navy
War College of Newport, Rhode Island. He has been a Subbuteo player since he was 8, and he expressed the desire to have
some matches with players in New England. That will certainly happen, probably at the next New England Interleague, in program
at the end of October.
Talking about Greeks, our NYC-TFC's friend, Jimmy Theodosiou, huge Olympiakos fan, is flying to Manchester, England, where he
will witness the battle between his team and the Red Devils at the legendary Old Trafford on October 1st. Now, THAT is following
your team away!

As for tonight's Cup, Massimo confirmed his supremacy in the club by winning all the games, with 18-1 on goals. The only
goal-against came from Jeff's finger tip, who surprised the Italian with a fast counterattack on the left and a precise shot that hit
the far post and bounced in the net.
Despite his European experience, Jim Taylor had another upsetting night, after finishing 4th with 4 points (2-4 on goals), while
Eddie Davidson came back from an initial 0-6 against Massimo and proudly conquered the 3rd position.
Miguel Marques proved once again to be the Challenger #1 after defeating Taylor in a sort of semifinal. In fact, both the
Portuguese and the Scottish arrived to the very last match of the qualifying group with 4 points, but Jim had a better goal
differential. Only a victory could have given another final to Miguel, who won 1-0 on a chip from the far left in the first half.
