For the duo Conturso-Taylor, this was the last club meeting before their World Cup
campaign. It eventually became a double-header as they played both in the Group
Stage and in the Final, first time since August 2003 (39th edition, 2-0 Conturso).
Taylor looked much sharper than their last match (last week, 4-0 Conturso) and in
good shape for The Battle of Bologna. Nevertheless, the Italian managed to win
games and title by edging out his club mate with two 1-0 decisions.
The 48th edition of the traditional mini-competition also registered the exploit of Alex
Lencastre, who reached the semifinals with an astonishing 1-0 win over title holder
and host of the evening, Luis Silva. Alex, who just started to play after a few
sabbatical years, showed good skills and smooth touch with his Hasbro bases and
set new standards for future newcomers.
