Wallingford - Back-2-Back for Conturso and 38th
Challenge Cup title for the veteran Italian.
In a league night dominated by the Taylor-Marques Sr.
show-down (0-0), Massimo and fellow senior club
members, Rick Marques, Eddie Davidson and Mike
Eylward played the traditional CT competition and gave
chance the other players to catch up with some
league action. While the final Conturso-Marques was
not a surprise, it was interesting following the Group
Stage's development as Mike Eylward (tonight first
league win for him over Mishtal, 2-0) almost caused
major upsets with his performance. The U19 lost only
1-0 to Rick and earned an 1-1 draw with Eddie that
basically closed the door to the Challenge for the
Farmington's senior.
The final was well played by both players, with the
Italian taking an early lead. Rick tied before the break
with a nice chip. The balance remained until the first
sudden death shoot-out, when Conturso picked the
jolly from the far corner, then saved on the
Portuguese shot.

RICK MARQUES
Wallingford - Jim Taylor made his first apperence
since January 2nd (
2005 ASA New England RBI) and
reached the Challenge Cup final for the second time
this season (9th time ever). Like in the previous 8,
Massimo Conturso was there to prevent him from
bringing back to Bloomfield his first title. The Italian
legitimized his 1-0 win with a crossbar after a few
seconds in the game. For the Scot, only a constant
but sterile ball possession.
In his 37th Challenge Cup victory, Conturso played
with his C5 Profi bi-base and a brand new hand-painted
Cameroon national team, made by SubbuteoUSA's Paul
Eyes.
