The 90th Challenge Cup in a little over 6
years didn't look like much at the beginning.
The only 3 players that showed up, ignored
the milestone the competition was about to
reach. They just wanted to have some fun
at their favorite game.
And they did.
Jim Taylor, Miguel Marques and Massimo
Conturso put together a great effort, and
the results was 2 1/2 hours of quality
subbuteo, with chances on every side and
scores hanging in balance in each game.
The evening that gave Conturso a
record-breaking 12-title winning streak, was
opened and closed by Massimo & Miguel
with 2 classy matchups that the Italian
managed to win 3-1 aggregate, including
their 4th consecutive, 34th overall and
Conturso's 19th straight Challenge.
With the same score, Massimo took 2 more
Founders Derbies in mid-evening against an
at-last participating JT, who did not slip up
like his famous Chelsea namesake, but still
showed some rust from his recent 11-week
long hiatus.
This club meeting was only the 3rd in the
last 2 months, but the flicks' quality and the
players' engagement are the best medicine
for the SCC.
