Wallingford, Conn.
As Cup 93 was all about comebacks, Cup 94
was a matter of streaks.
Jim Taylor has apparently found the Perfect
Base for his finger tops as he defeated
Massimo Conturso in the tournament
opener. It was Jim's 3rd consecutive win
against Massimo, 5th in about 120 matches.
In 6 weeks against the Italian, Taylor has
accomplished more than he ever did in the
previous 8 years!
Unfortunately, Jim's streak ended in the
final, his first since Cup 83 in Farmington on
July 2007 when the club unveiled the new
All-blacks uniforms.
Opposed again to Massimo, Jim played a
good match that Massimo unblocked just
before the half time buzzer. It was the 15th
Challenge between the two club
co-founders, with Massimo now leading 15-0.
To complete the picture, the Red Sox
swept the Yankees at Fenway Park and
extended their winning streak to 10.
