10. LUIS SILVA since January 2003

Growing up in a Portuguese family of course means developing a love
for "the beautiful game" and Benfica. Luis' love of soccer transferred
over into the Subbuteo scene in the early 80's. For 2 months after
school Luis watched the USA network anxiously awaiting the
commercial he caught a glimpse of so he could get the phone# to
order it. Finally after ordering his first item, a Subbuteo club edition, his
passion for this game swiftly grew. Building a stadium and bribing family
members to play with him were his favorite past times. Later in life when
Luis' then girlfriend/future wife bought him a box full of items for
Christmas one year, the bug hit again. Display cases were built for his
130+ teams and a rebirth of his hobby began. Now, thanks to his
cousin Miguel, Luis' Subbuteo obsession has been once again sparked.
At the age of 34 Luis lives in West Haven with wife and 2 year old
daughter, who already knows how to "flick the guys" and run around
the house with arms spread yelling "goooal." He can often be found
adding extra finishing touches to that first pitch and stadium, making
metal goals or diligently painting his own teams down to the finest detail.
