Salem Cup Salem, Massachusetts on July 11, 2004
|
July 11th could be remembered in the New England as the anniversary of the
second Subbuteo club of the region.
SCC's co-founders, Jim Taylor and Massimo Conturso drove to Eastern
Massachusetts to give their blessing to Connecticut's honorary members, Andrea
Gasparini and Jeremy Goodwin.
The two HMs are planning to found their own club in the town of Salem, MA, and
they already have clear ideas about it. They are in contact with a few others
pioneers and the SCC could soon and happily see the end of their monopoly in the
North-East of the country.
Taylor and Conturso, who was accompanied by his wife Ellen, arrived to Salem just
in time for lunch!
Andrea Gasparini and his wife Amy welcomed them with a great cook-out in the
back yard, where the party of 6--Goodwin was already there as well--enjoyed hot
dogs and burgers in the pleasant seabreeze from the Harbor.
By 2pm, it was time for action.
The cup was supposed to be an Italian-style robin-round, with no playoffs or final
and 20-minute matches.
Due to lack of time, the last game Conturso vs. Goodwin could not be played and
the final victory went to the region's ASA VP, Jim Taylor at his first win ever.
